Event: Food and Wine Pairing Extravaganza
Location:

Description:

Food and Wine Pairing Extravaganza! – Saturday, February 27 from noon – 4 pm

We know lots of people feel puzzled, or even lost, when they contemplate matching wine and food.  It doesn’t have to be that hard!  Come join us this Saturday as we demystify food and wine pairing and give you the chance to sample some fantastic cheeses, entrees, and wines.

Start by meeting Charlie Adler, president of TasteDC, bon vivant, and author of, I Drink on the Job: A Refreshing Perspective on Wine.  Charlie will be pouring a selection of classic wines for any table, sampling a little cheese, and giving you straight-ahead, foolproof, advice on creating great food and wine matches.  While’s he’s quite an expert, Charlie is about as far away from being the classic wine snob as you can imagine – he’s fun, funny, and loaded with great stories and advice.  We’ll have Charlie’s highly entertaining new book on hand so you can get your autographed copy, and Charlie promises to dance a complete tango with anyone who can offer up a food selection he can’t pair with just the right wine.  (Just kidding about the tango…I think.)

Then, come back to the tasting bar and sample the dishes and wines featured in two of our recent Wine and Food Pairing Club.  Our own food-and-wine pairing expert (and acting chef) Eric Rohleder will offer tastes of two main course dishes featured in the Club along with our recommended matching wines.  Like Charlie, Eric doesn’t get hung up on wine and food pairing theory, so for each dish you’ll find both a classic and slightly off-the-wall pairing to try.

All the wines on tasting will be at special prices for the weekend.  Join us!

Limit 25 people – please contact the Reston Tasting Room at 703-435-3553 to reserve your seat.

Charlie Adler has one goal in life: to make his favorite quote a reality – “a meal without wine is breakfast!” A wine professional,
international speaker, and head of a 20,000-member wine and food event organization, he has dedicated more than a decade to the exploration and
enjoyment of wine. In his book “I Drink On the Job: A Refreshing Perspective On Wine” (https://www.idrinkonthejob.com), which is based
on Washington, DC’s top class, Wine Basics 101, the author takes the subject of wine far beyond the expected.

Adler throws out convention and challenges the new wine consumer to approach wine like any other pleasurable consumer good: drink first and ask questions later! Pulling from the responses of thousands of wine lovers, Adler explores wine with one goal in mind: promoting a glass of wine (or two!) as an important part of America’s meals.

There’s nothing stuffy or pretentious about the author’s approach to wine, in fact, his humorous anecdotes and stories in the trenches of DC’s vibrant international wine scene make for a page-turning read!
